A Brief Intro:
Schentell Nunn is the creator of Offerings, a Los Angeles-based floral design studio. Schentell’s ability to craft evocative sensory experiences through her designs has made her one of the most sought after floral designers in LA. Her client list includes the likes of Gucci, Chanel, and Cartier.
In this Q&A, Schentell opens up about her creative process, how her childhood in Vermont inspired her love of the natural world around her, and how clothing plays a role in her life as a floral designer as well as a mother.

How has your time spent as a young girl in your Grandma’s rose garden influenced your floral designs today?
Throughout my childhood I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time in nature. Whether it was in my grandmother's rose garden in early childhood, or the endless forest of Vermont in my pre-teen years, there was a never-ending fascination with nature and plant life. That same fascination carries through to my floristry.
How does a floral arrangement come together for you? What’s the beginning idea of it?
In the beginning of my design process I tend to look for flowers that light me up, and then build a palette of blooms from there. There is usually a magnetism to a particular flower that begins this process for me. I pull from this same inspiration when buying for our weekly designers choice orders. That creative freedom really allows for endless inspiration.
What’s a floral arrangement that you designed that you’ll never forget? Why?
I have been fortunate to work with Gucci on their annual NAACP luncheon at the Gucci Osteria for the past 3 years. It feels like such an honor to not only be brought on for such an incredible event, but also to be trusted to present something creative and memorable for their guests to enjoy. Every year has been so different, but each one will be something that I remember and feel proud of for many years to come.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
When designing I am still fascinated with the natural world, creating my own little fantasy gardens and imagining flower pairings and textures together that may not occur in nature. I am really inspired by the feeling of the flowers the moment they are for. I think this allows for such a deep connection with the work.
What was the earliest piece of clothing you can remember?
When I was 5 or 6 years old I remember having these black patent leather shoes that I was obsessed with. I wanted to wear them with every outfit and they had zero traction. Needless to say they weren't the best shoes for all the adventuring I was doing, but they were by far my favorite.
What’s your relationship with clothes like?
I have always loved to shop. I think it is the hunt of a good deal, or finding the perfect top. Growing up I was a serious thrifter and still love a beautiful vintage find. Luckily I can now direct that energy to my son's wardrobe, which is a little more rewarding in so many ways.
What do you value in the clothes you buy? The clothes you wear?
I love clothing that is comfortable, effortless, and long lasting. Now that I am a mom I love clothing that I can just toss on and feel comfortable in while still feeling “put together”. Cozy jeans, a perfect t shirt, & neutral hues are all must haves for me.
What’s a Roam piece that would be a staple for you? Why?
I am in love with the ISA Pant. The high waist & perfect leg width make them so easy yet flattering whether I am chasing my toddler or having meetings with clients. Definitely one of the most versatile pairs of pants in my closet.
